Aston Martin Car Insurance
We provide advice on how to protect your Aston Martin.
Founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. They joined forces the previous year to sell cars made by Singer. The first car was to be called Aston Martin and was created by Martin in March 1915 after acquiring premises in Kensington. However, production did not start due to the First World War and all the machinery was sold to the Sopwith Aviation Company. Aston Martin then went through a series of bankruptcies and recoveries through the 1920s and 1930s before switching focus to road cars, producing 700 before World War Two halted production. During the Second World War, they produced aircraft components.
David Brown Limited bought Aston Martin in 1947, he also owned Lagonda. Lagonda and Aston Martin shared engines, resources and began to build the DB series of cars. Despite the fact the success of these models Aston Martin found themselves in financial trouble again in 1972. It was at this time that Aston Martin halted sales to the United States due to their failure to meet emission requirements which again put the Company into receivership at the end of 1974. James Bond started driving Aston Martins in Goldfinger. ‘007’ has driven many models over the years including the V8 Vantage (1980s), V12 Vanquish and DBS (2000s). In 2013, Aston Martin signed a deal with Daimler AG which meant that the next generation of Aston Martin vehicles will have Mercedes-AMG engines They also included fitting Aston Martin with new electrical systems, part of a plan that incorporated new technology and V8s, first utilised in the DB11. In January of 2020, Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll led a consortium to gain a 25% stake in the company. Today, Stroll is the chairman of Aston Martin, and Tobias Moers of Mercedes-AMG is the CEO of Aston Martin Lagonda Group Limited.
